Homeland Security
Threat Level - Elevated -
Significant Risk of terrorist attack.

One
of the most important missions all Americans face today is Homeland
Security.
Everyday citizens and trained Emergency Responders, along with
our Law Enforcement are working together more than ever to insure
the common safety of Paducah and McCracken County.
The truth is...your chance of being involved in an act of Terrorism
is very remote.
However, we don't have to experience a devastating fire at home
to know the importance of smoke detectors, fire extinguishers,
family evacuation plans and our Fire Departments...
By the same token, all of us need to be prepared to face ANY
hazard that threatens our safety.
Whether Tornadoes, Floods, Earthquakes, Accidents, Chemical Releases
or Homeland Security, it's really cheap insurance to be prepared.
Develop a family plan at home, and help organize a workplace
plan. Keep a 3 day supply of food, water, medicines, and other
essentials put aside for an emergency.
You, as members of our community are the "eyes and ears" of
law enforcement. When you see a suspicious person who shouldn't
be doing what they're doing, or witness a possible incident in
progress...IMMEDIATELY report this to your Police or Sheriff's
Department.
Having a Neighborhood Watch Association in your area is an important
first step in Homeland Security. Contact the McCracken County
Sheriff's Department or Paducah Police Department to set one
up where you live!
Organize your neighbors and co-workers into trained response
teams to help out in time of emergency.
Take the CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training the
next time it's available near you.
Remember, Homeland Security starts at home!
