2019 Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Schedule

The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday affects City of Paducah services. 

  • City Hall located at 300 South 5th Street and the Parks & Recreation Department office at 1400 H.C. Mathis Drive will be closed Monday, January 21.
  • The Engineering-Public Works Department will not collect curbside recycling on Monday.  Those who have their recycling containers collected on the third Monday of the month will have collection on Tuesday, January 22. 
  • The garbage collection schedule for the week of January 22-25 will not change. 
  • The Compost Facility located at 1560 North 8th Street is temporarily closed during the weekdays until further notice due to the routine grinding of brush. 

The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. March to the Monument and Luncheon organized by the Paducah/McCracken County Chapter of the NAACP will be Monday, January 21.  A march for the laying of the wreath at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. monument will start at approximately 10 a.m. at the Robert Cherry Civic Center.  Participants will walk east in the median of Park Avenue to the monument located on Martin Luther King Drive near North 21st Street.  The annual luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m. at the Civic Center.
