Location: Paducah Tilghman High School, Paducah, KY
Paducah police are investigating a threat against an individual who is a student at Paducah Tilghman High School, in which the suspect mentioned today’s tragic events at Marshall County High School.
Det. Matt Scheer was called to Paducah Tilghman High School this morning after a 17-year-old girl told school officials that an acquaintance had taken responsibility for the shooting at Marshall County High School, and told her, “and you’re next.”
The suspect was located in Mattoon, IL, and it was determined he was in no way connected to the incident at Marshall County. Charges are pending against the suspect.
Paducah police would like to reassure parents that all indications are that the threat was directed at the 17-year-old girl, and not at the high school. We have been in contact with school officials and will have an increased presence at the school.
