Location: McCracken County Regional Jail, Paducah
Suspect: Mary Aderholt, 32, of Mount Vernon, IL, arrested on a warrant charging her with attempting to or obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, false statement or forgery
A former McCracken County resident was transported back to Paducah today and served a warrant charging her with a drug offense.
Mary Aderholt was arrested by Illinois authorities as a fugitive from justice in Kentucky. She was extradited and brought back to McCracken County Regional Jail today.
Det. John Tolliver, the Paducah Police Department’s prescription drug investigator, was notified by a local clinic that Aderholt was prescribed 120 Hydrocodone tablets in late May. Aderholt later contacted the clinic and said her prescription had been given to another customer at her pharmacy, and that the pharmacy was refusing to refill the prescription.
An appointment was made at the clinic for Aderholt, but she showed up before the appointment, again stating that her medication had been given to someone else, and asking for a new prescription.
Tolliver contacted the pharmacy, which confirmed Aderholt’s prescription had been given to another customer, but that the customer had returned it and Aderholt’s prescription was refilled and picked up by her husband. Aderholt’s husband confirmed he had picked up the prescription.
Tolliver presented his investigation to a McCracken County grand jury, which indicted Aderholt on a charge of attempting to or obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, false statement or forgery. Aderholt was located earlier this week and arrested by Illinois authorities.
