CITY COMMISSION: The Paducah Board of Commissioners meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Commission Chambers of City Hall at 300 South 5th Street. The Board holds Workshop meetings on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month in the same location. The general public is invited to attend. SMOKE ALARMS: The Paducah Fire Department will install smoke alarms at no charge to Paducah residents. To make an appointment for firefighters to come to your home and install a smoke alarm, call (270) 444-8521.
RECYCLING: The City of Paducah recycles yard waste at its Compost Facility at 1560 North 8th Street. Residents can drop off bagged or loose leaves, tree trimmings, and brush. Compost and wood chips are available for purchase. GPS-Recycle Now (Greater Paducah Sustainability Project) also provides recycling opportunities. The building at 1581 North 8th Street will be turned into a recycling drop-off center. TRASH COLLECTION AND FEES: To view information about collection fees from the Paducah Solid Waste Division, click Solid Waste Collection and Fees. For questions, call the Solid Waste Office at 444-8567. The monthly charge for Residential Solid Waste Collection is $15.35 per month and is included on your water bill. OAK GROVE CEMETERY: The city-owned cemetery established in 1847 is approximately 100 acres. Oak Grove Cemetery has an estimated 35,278 platted lots. SECTION 8 HOUSING ASSISTANCE: Section 8 Housing Assistance is available for low to moderate income residents. There are two programs: home ownership and the rental assistance voucher program.
