The Telecommunications Ordinance governs local policy as it relates to telecommunications providers and services. The ordinance establishes clear local guidelines, promotes competition in telecommunications services, and conserves the limited physical capacity of City rights-of-ways where telecommunication services implement their infrastructure. To reflect updates in telecommunications and after soliciting input from providers, on August 9, 2022, the Paducah Board of Commissioners repealed and replaced the City’s Ordinance.

The City of Paducah allows for telecommunication companies to submit proposals to become a telecommunications franchise within the City.  Franchises are non-exclusive and allow telecommunications companies to construct and maintain their system in City rights-of-ways.  Telecommunication providers can submit proposals when there is an active Request for Proposals issued by the City of Paducah. Requests for Proposals for telecommunications franchises will be issued as necessary and information on active Requests for Proposals can be found on the Request for Bids or Proposals pageNote: The most recent request for proposals deadline was November 11, 2022.
