Arson Awareness and Fire Investigations Workshop

The Paducah Fire Prevention Division is hosting an Arson Awareness and Fire Investigations Workshop on Friday, July 12 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Julian Carroll Convention Center located at 415 Park Avenue in Paducah.

This workshop will benefit firefighters, police officers, investigators, insurance agents, and others interested in learning more about the point of origin at the scene of a fire, accidental fire causes, intentional fires, and working with insurance companies.  More than 60 participants from Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois have registered for the seminar.  A few openings are available.  If you are interested in attending, please contact April Tinsman in the Fire Prevention Division at (270) 444-8527.  There is a $20 registration fee.  Lunch will be provided.

City of Paducah Deputy Fire Chief of Fire Prevention Greg Cherry says, “The Fire Prevention Division decided to host this educational seminar after a few staff members attended a workshop last winter taught by one of the instructors, Daniel Terski.  We felt that this information needed to be shared with professionals in our region.”  Cherry adds, “This is a great chance for those in the fire science or police professions and insurance agents to network and learn more about fire investigations and how we can work together as a team.”

IIAKThe Fire Prevention Division thanks the sponsors for the workshop including Independent Insurance Agents of Kentucky, Inc.  Other sponsors are Kentucky Farm Bureau (Ricky Greenwell, agent), Bradshaw & Weil (Phillip Morgan, agent), State Farm (Shannon Brotherton, agent), and the Paducah Police Department.  Participants also will be able to register for door prizes from Hutson of Paducah, Cheers Food & Fuel, Pockets, American Red Cross, IAFF, Glisson Winery, and Bluegrass Fire Equipment.
