Dust off your bicycle and come out this Sunday, June 9 for the first Bikes on Broadway event for the 2013 season. Bikes on Broadway is sponsored by Paducah Parks Services and BikeWorld.
This is the sixth year for the free event which closes a stretch of Broadway in Paducah to vehicular traffic. From 1 until 4 p.m., bring your bicycle, skates, skateboards, scooters, tricycles, strollers, running shoes, or walking shoes for a fun day of strolling and riding along Broadway. Vehicular traffic will not be permitted on Broadway between 4th and 17th Streets allowing for a safe riding environment for people-powered vehicles. Recreation Superintendent Amie Clark says, “This event allows everyone to safely travel along Broadway. Broadway has some beautiful buildings and landscaping. Travelling by bicycle lets people enjoy the City of Paducah from a completely different perspective.”
BikeWorld will be set up at 17th Street to provide mechanical help and other assistance. Volunteers will help direct traffic at the intersections of 9th Street and Broadway and 13th Street and Broadway. Please avoid driving around the barricades.
Additional 2013 dates for Bikes on Broadways are July 14, August 11, September 8, and October 13.
