After a successful inaugural year for the Mayor’s Art Club, Mayor Gayle Kaler plans to continue the displaying of local art at City Hall. At this time, the Mayor’s Art Club is accepting entries for artists to participate for 2014. All forms of art are acceptable; however, an artist must have several pieces that can be displayed. Students are encouraged to submit their work for review. The Mayor’s Art Club is limited to artists who live in McCracken County.
Artists who would like to have their art considered for display should send representative images of their artwork to email@example.com by noon on Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Submissions must include contact information including the artist’s phone number.
After a judging panel reviews the entries, eight artists will be selected for 2014. Each quarter of the calendar year, two of the eight artists will have the opportunity to display their artwork in the Mayor’s office and reception area on the second floor City Hall.
Mayor Kaler says, “Paducah is a river city and a regional hub for health, education, and business. But Paducah also is a creative community with a variety of artists ranging from internationally-known painters to students who are just learning a craft. During the past year, I have enjoyed the artwork at City Hall and have encouraged people to stop in and take a look. I’m looking forward to another year of inspirational art pieces.”
The eight artists selected for 2014 will be notified either by the end of the year or early in 2014. A reception will be held at City Hall in 2014 for the public to meet the artists and see the first installment of artwork. For more information about the Mayor’s Art Club, visit www.paducahky.gov.
