Drainage Project in 5600 Block of Buckner Lane will Lead to Detours

The City of Paducah Engineering-Public Works Streets Division along with Danny Cope & Sons Excavating and Harper Construction will be working on a drainage project beginning Monday, August 20.  This project involves the replacement of a deteriorated cross drain in the 5600 block of Buckner Lane, specifically in front of 5615 and 5630 Buckner Lane.  This is along the section of Buckner Lane between Pecan Drive and North Friendship Road with the project location just south of the Hansen Road intersection.

In addition to the deterioration of the existing pipe which crosses under the road, its inefficient design is leading to the erosion of the roadway.  Crews will replace the existing pipe with a 36-inch corrugated metal pipe and construct two concrete headwalls.  This project will improve the efficiency of the upstream inlet by aligning the headwall with the existing ditch.  Plus, the project will eliminate the erosion issues at this location.

This project is expected to be completed in two weeks, weather-permitting.

To safely facilitate the drainage project, Buckner Lane will be closed in both directions. Drivers are urged to find an alternate route.  Traffic heading south can detour at Oakcrest Drive to Springwell Lane to U.S. 62.  Traffic heading north can follow North Friendship Road to New Holt Road.   Please watch for the work crews and traffic control devices.

The City of Paducah maintains approximately 220 miles of streets.  If you have a question, please call the Engineering-Public Works Department at 270-444-8511.
