Suspect: Jeffery S. Carpenter, 47, of the 400 block of Oaks Road, arrested on charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree fleeing or evading police, alcohol intoxication, resisting arrest and second-degree disorder conduct
A Paducah man was arrested after he attempted to steal a cellular telephone and threatened several people with a knife.
Officer Ryan Conn reported Jeffery S. Carpenter was trying to keep a cellular telephone belonging to June Bolino of the 600 block of Broadway, and was trying to cut her and witnesses Nicholas Justice and William Brewer with a knife.
Bolino, Justice and Brewer told Conn that they had struggled with Carpenter and stomped on his hand to make him let go of the knife. Officer Nathan Jaimet was the first officer on the scene, and Carpenter fled when the officer arrived.
Carpenter ran about a block and hid in a bush, and resisted officers’ attempts to handcuff him. He was subdued and taken into custody. The telephone was returned to Bolino, and the knife was seized as evidence.
Carpenter was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
