Date of release: February 4, 2019
Paducah Parks & Recreation and the Paducah Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution are holding the fourth annual I Heart Presidents Day on Saturday, February 9. The free event that celebrates Presidents Day will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Robert Cherry Civic Center. Kids and families can attend at any time during that three hour time period. There will be free snacks and gift bags while supplies last.
Recreation Specialist Taylor Morsching says, “I Heart Presidents Day is a unique event with fun presidential themed activities for the whole family. These activities are educational and remind us of our great American culture. New this year will be Story Time with George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Each president will make an appearance and read a book about his life.”
Kids of all ages will have the opportunity to make crafts while learning about different presidents and early American culture. Specific activities include writing a letter to the President, taking a presidential portrait in costume, making an Abe Lincoln log cabin and top hat, crafting a tricorn or mob cap, and coloring.
Presidents Day, also called Washington’s Birthday, is officially celebrated the third Monday of February.
