The 2013 season finale of Live on Broadway will be held on Saturday, August 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. This week’s entertainment includes a reading by Mayor Gayle Kaler of the book, “P is for Paducah,” in the Family Fun Zone, located in the 300 block of Broadway.
Various literacy and language activities will accompany the readings, including the opportunity for kids to win free books. Mayor Kaler will do readings at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. This week’s program is sponsored by the Mayor’s Book Club and REACH (Reading Expands a Child’s Horizons), a program aimed at improving the literacy rate in Western Kentucky.
Another kid friendly attraction that adults will also enjoy is an interactive presentation by Animal Tales. The organization educates children and adults on various types of animals and their unique characteristics and habitats.
In addition to children’s entertainment, this week’s musical line up ranges from Americana and folk music, to some favorite tunes from the past. This week audiences will enjoy the following:
The Paducah Quickstep Cloggers will also perform at this week’s event.
The next musical event sponsored by the Paducah Renaissance Alliance will be held on Thursday, August 8, at 7 p.m. on Wilson Stage on Paducah’s historic riverfront. Musical entertainment will be provided by the gospel choir from House of Hope Ministries and True Evidence, a ladies gospel quartet. This event is the last scheduled performance of this year’s Summer Concert Series.
