Market House Theatre is presenting Shakespeare in the Park at Bob Noble Park Amphitheatre on July 12, 13, and 14. The open-air amphitheatre is located next to the swimming pool. On each of those evenings at 6 p.m., enjoy FREE performances of William Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, As You Like It. This summer series aims to bring classic Shakespearean theatre to the community in a relaxed, fun way. There will be food trucks at the event.
Beginning at 5 p.m. on each of the performance nights, there will be some road closures and detours inside Noble Park. For folks planning to attend a performance, enter Noble Park at the baseball field entrance off Park Avenue. Parking will be available in front of the pool and at the baseball fields. Overflow parking also will be available on the east side of Lake Montgomery. Food trucks will be onsite and located on the drive around the west side of the lake.
To maintain traffic flow and to maximize event safety, vehicles will be permitted to enter Noble Park at the main entrance on Noble Park and at the side entrance off H.C. Mathis Drive; however, vehicles will not be able to exit the park at those locations. They will be redirected to exit at Cairo Road. Entry into the park using Cairo Road will not be permitted.
As You Like It, under the direction of Ashlee Brotherton, centers on Rosalind and Orlando. Everything in this story seems to get turned around with lords and ladies banished from court; brothers at odds; and guises abound in the Forest of Arden. The story is set in the here and now with the same great Shakespearean text. This amusing and musical world of royalty, rebels, and clowns comes together in the end to celebrate four weddings between some of Shakespeare’s most beloved characters.
