Moving Forward with City of Paducah Strategic Plan Action Steps

Date of release:  August 30, 2018

Today, City Manager Jim Arndt provided the Paducah Board of Commissioners with the Strategic Plan Action Steps document.  The completion of this document by the end of August was outlined in the Municipal Order approved by the Board in May.  Since that time, the Paducah Board of Commissioners, City Manager Arndt, and City Directors have been working on the document’s development.

City Manager Arndt says, “The Action Steps document provides the framework of how each objective will be accomplished by assigning key members to lead each objective, their accountability partners, an action timeline, and a statement that describes the desired outcome.”

Arndt adds, “It’s a fluid, working plan that will be strengthened as data and best practices are collected.”

The document also provides information regarding how each objective aligns with the most recent Citizen Survey in addition to the priority levels determined from the August 7 workshop with the Paducah Board of Commissioners and staff.

The strategic planning process has been underway since late last year.  A workshop led by Julia Novak was held in November.  Furthermore, Mayor Brandi Harless coordinated community meetings early this year from January through March to gain community insight as she drafted the initial plan.

The Strategic Plan Action Steps includes objectives under the following Key Performance Areas:

  • Enhancing Arts and Culture
  • Provide Open, Smart, and Engaged Government
  • Empower Upward Economic Mobility
  • Develop Healthy and Sustainable Neighborhoods
  • Celebrate a Diverse Community
  • Maintain Thoughtful and Modern Infrastructure
  • Provide Excellent Recreation Experiences
  • Public Safety
