Paducah Main Street, a division of the City of Paducah Planning Department, is organizing the third annual Pretty Super Saturday Meet & Greet from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 21. This is a free event to bring families and businesses together in downtown Paducah. Paducah Power System is sponsoring this year’s event.
At the Pretty Super Saturday Meet & Greet, more than two dozen superheroes, princesses, and costumed characters will be stationed at local businesses and the downtown gazebo.
Planning Director Tammara Tracy says, “This is one of Paducah Main Street’s most popular events since it’s a day that all ages can enjoy. Families have been asking about the Meet & Greet for the past several months so that they can plan to attend.”
Tracy adds, “These costumed characters are helping the kids make lasting memories, but I think the older generation has just as much fun since characters such as Batman, Snow White, and Cinderella are part of everyone’s childhood. I hope everyone has fun meeting other families, visiting our local establishments, and making memories.”
Families are encouraged to stop at the gazebo located at 2nd Street and Broadway to pick up a free map. Autograph books are available and can be personalized at MAKE Paducah located at 628 Broadway. JD Pass Carriage will be hosting free carriage rides including the Cinderella Carriage, Trolley, and Super Shuttle.
Characters that families get to meet include the following princesses: Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Elsa and Anna, Jasmine, Moana, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Tiana, and Tinker Bell. From Star Wars, be on the lookout for Kylo Ren, R2-D2, and Darth Vader. Other costumed characters include Batgirl, Batman, Beast Boy, Black Widow, Captain Jack Sparrow, Catwoman, Deadpool, Harley Quinn, Iron Patriot, Joker, Mary Poppins, Scarlet Witch, Wolverine, and Wonder Woman.
Local superheroes will be at the event with several Paducah Fire Department firefighters and a fire truck and Paducah Police officers with a patrol car in attendance.
In addition to meeting your favorite costumed character, there will be face painting, balloon animals, a crafts table, and superhero tattoos. Many of the downtown restaurants and organizations are participating by providing foods that kids love including burgers, hot dogs, tacos, and quesadillas.
During Pretty Super Saturday Meet & Greet, Broadway will be closed inside of 3rd Street to the riverfront along with the closing of the roads around Market House Square and Maiden Alley. Please watch for families as they will be visiting businesses in the downtown area from the floodwall up to approximately 7th Street.
