Beginning the week of December 11, nearly 1/3 of the City of Paducah residential solid waste customers will see a change in their collection day. The City of Paducah has 9846 residential solid waste customers. The collection schedule will shift for approximately 3000 customers.
City of Paducah Solid Waste Division staff have provided informational notices to the affected residents. All solid waste customers can check to see their scheduled collection date by visiting Solid Waste Interactive Map. The map located on the page allows residents to type in their address to find out their solid waste collection day.
Also, beginning the week of December 11, City Solid Waste crews will be changing their work hours for residential and commercial rollout container collection. Currently, crews work from 4 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The new hours will be 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The change in hours will increase the safety for the solid waste workers and for the public since all of the collection hours will be during the daytime when there is more natural light.
City Engineer-Public Works Director Rick Murphy says, “In addition to safety benefits, these changes in routes and hours will increase the operational efficiency of the Solid Waste Division as we prepare to launch the voluntary, single-stream curbside recycling program in mid-January. I am proud of the work that the City of Paducah does to be good a custodial steward to our community and environment.”
Please note that the crews who collect solid waste from commercial dumpsters will maintain their 4 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. hours since many businesses prefer solid waste collection to occur early in the day.
