Date of release: July 5, 2018
Beginning Monday, July 9, the contractor working for the City of Paducah, Harper Construction, will be initiating concrete sidewalk and street repair work along Broadway between North 31st Street and Lone Oak Road. This is the stretch of Broadway adjacent to the Coke Plant. After the concrete work is complete, Jim Smith Contracting will begin asphalt resurfacing. The work is expected to be completed by July 31, weather-permitting.
During the street rehabilitation work, crews expect to keep one lane of traffic open and maintain access to businesses. However, for the safety of the crews, drivers are urged to find an alternate route. Please use caution, and watch for the work crews and traffic control devices. During this construction period, please avoid parking curbside on any of the areas scheduled for rehabilitation.
This street rehabilitation project is part of the City of Paducah’s annual street improvement plan. Part of the funding is provided through the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Municipal Aid Program (MAP). MAP funds are collected from the State gas tax and are allocated for maintenance, reconstruction, or construction of city streets.
The City of Paducah maintains approximately 220 miles of streets. If you have a question, please call the Engineering-Public Works Department at 270-444-8511.
