New this year is the “Summer Concert Series,” a fun riverfront musical experience once a month on Thursdays. The Concert Series will be held on the riverfront Wilson Stage leaving plenty of room for dancing and enjoyment on a weekday!
The Paducah Renaissance will host a free concert on the riverfront on Thursday, August 8, at 7 p.m. on Wilson Stage. This month’s concert is the final performance in this year’s Summer Concert Series. The event will celebrate the 8th of August, a day when news reached Paducah that President Abraham Lincoln had signed the Emancipation Proclamation, formally abolishing slavery for African Americans.
Entertainment will be provided by the NIA Dancers, the gospel choir of House of Hope Ministries, and True Evidence, a ladies gospel quartet. A brief history of the celebration of the 8th of August will also be presented.
The Paducah Renaissance Alliance, a national Main Street program, serves to stimulate the economic vitality of the historic downtown and Lower Town arts district, while protecting the historic integrity of our community.
