Keiler Park Playground Temporary Closure

Date of Release:
March 07, 2024

Paducah Parks & Recreation Department crews will begin removing the existing playground located at Keiler Park on Monday, March 11 in preparation for a new, larger playground. Keiler Park is located at 2900 Broadway.

Depending upon the weather, the playground area will be closed for approximately one month for the removal of the equipment, the preparation of the site, and the installation of new playground pieces and a pour-in-place rubber safety surface.

The new playground area will feature swings and an inclusive play structure designed for children ages five through 12.

Director of Parks & Recreation Amie Clark said, “One of our roles as a Parks & Recreation Department is to provide spaces for people to gather and enjoy. These spaces need to be safe and inclusive. This new playground equipment has more than a dozen inclusive elements to bring children of all abilities together in play. Also, the addition of a poured-in-play safety surface will improve the playground’s safety and accessibility.”

To fund a portion of the playground project, the City of Paducah received a Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant through the Kentucky Department of Local Government in the amount of $81,885. To assist with the playground costs, the City of Paducah also received a matching grant from GameTime which allowed for the purchase of playground equipment at a 50% discount.

Later this spring, crews will be installing additional sidewalks at Keiler Park.

Recently with the assistance of various grant funds, the City of Paducah updated the playgrounds at Robert Coleman Park and Langstaff Park.
