Temporary Closure of Gravel Section of Greenway Trail and Disc Golf Course for Paducah Sports Park Construction

Date of Release:
August 20, 2024

map showing greenway trail closureFor the public’s safety, the Disc Golf Course and most of the gravel section of the Greenway Trail will be closed beginning Tuesday, August 21. This closure is expected to last approximately eight weeks.

At this time, one of the contractors for the Paducah Sports Park, A&K Construction, is preparing the site at the former Bluegrass Downs site and at Stuart Nelson Park. Due to the proximity of the active construction zone to the gravel section of the Greenway Trail and since there is no public access to the Disc Golf Course, both of those amenities are being temporarily closed.

The extent of the Greenway Trail closure is from the Bob Leeper Bridge to the creek crossing on the trail behind Kroger. Contractors are placing signage and barricades and installing temporary fencing to secure the active construction site. Barricades with signage are being placed at the Greenway Trail entrance at County Park Road and at the entrance to the gravel trail in Noble Park.

Please note that the nearly four-mile concrete section of the Greenway Trail from Noble Park to the riverfront is open and available for use. Furthermore, the McCracken County Trail is open. This is an approximately 1.5-mile trail with a parking area next to the McCracken County Youth Soccer Fields.
