Letters to the Mayor and Drawings from Local Elementary Students
Recently, the City of Paducah in partnership with Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) celebrated City Government Month in Kentucky by inviting local elementary students to draw pictures or write letters to Mayor George Bray.
Students in kindergarten through second grade drew pictures of their favorite things in Paducah with 61 pictures submitted. Students in third through fifth grade were asked to write a letter to Mayor Bray beginning with the phrase: I will make a difference in my community by. Mayor Bray received 124 letters.
On the latest Your City at Work episode, Mayor Bray reads and answers several of the letters from the students. At the end of the episode, enjoy viewing the 61 drawings.
Mayor Bray said, “These letters and drawings show so much thoughtfulness from our local youth. I also want to thank the teachers who taught these students about civics and being good neighbors and helped them put their thoughts on paper for us to enjoy. It shows that we have incredible youth in the city who will be future community leaders.”
