I am saddened to learn the news that the Honorable Albert Jones, a former Mayor of Paducah and admired public servant, has passed away.  I want to express my deepest condolences to Jones’ family and friends.

Former Mayor Jones was one of our community’s local heroes who served this community with honor and distinction.  Jones, a Korean War veteran, served as Paducah’s mayor from 1996 until 2000. Any City of Paducah employee who served with him remembers his leadership, drive, and passion for our city.  My father was a friend of Albert Jones, and I grew up listening to him speak of Albert in revered terms.

In addition to his term as Paducah’s mayor, Jones served as a special agent for the FBI, as Commonwealth attorney for McCracken County, as U.S. attorney for the Western District of Kentucky, and as a member of the Kentucky General Assembly.  His passion for public service and a good discussion were inspirational.  He served our city and state with enthusiasm and integrity with the goal of bringing the very best to Paducah and our surrounding communities. In 2012, the City was honored to dedicate a park in his name, Albert Jones Park.

Albert Jones was a true champion for this community who will be greatly missed.  Please keep his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

Mayor George P. Bray
