Paducah residents are invited to learn about the value of code enforcement and how to improve the health, safety, and beauty of their neighborhood by attending a Neighborhood Conversation meeting. These meetings are hosted by the Paducah Fire Prevention Division in partnership with the Paducah Police Department.

There will be three meeting options.

  • Monday, March 24, 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Robert Cherry Civic Center, 2701 Park Avenue.
  • Monday, March 31, 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the W.C. Young Community Center, 505 South 8th Street.
  • Monday, April 14, 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Kentucky Oak Mall Community Room (located in the mall corridor next to Dillard’s Men’s and Home Store).

Mayor George Bray said, “Your participation is these Neighborhood Conversation meetings is valuable and essential in building a vibrant and thriving community. It is through these types of meetings that we hear the voices of Paducah’s residents, understand their concerns, and work together to shape Paducah’s future. Enforcing codes in neighborhoods is quite challenging and a tight rope we walk every day. I applaud the Fire Prevention Division for working with other city departments to develop these meetings to listen to the community and to provide informational materials.”

At these meetings, the community will be able to meet Code Enforcement Officers to learn about their roles and responsibilities along with the value of the City’s code enforcement programs and ordinances. Plus, the code enforcement compliance process will be explained for property maintenance and for high grass and weeds violations.

Paducah Fire Prevention Battalion Chief April Tinsman said, “On a daily basis, Paducah’s Code Enforcement Officers work with community members to ensure that properties are safe and compliant with Paducah’s Code of Ordinances. I look forward to meeting with residents to listen to their neighborhood concerns and to provide the advantages and benefits of having various processes related to code enforcement.”

In addition to the code enforcement process, other topics that will be discussed include neighborhood policing and making your home less attractive to criminals. Staff also will be available to provide information on various topics including curbside recycling, kick-start meetings, stormwater and drainage, Spring Clean Up Day, Paducah Citizens’ Academy, and more.

“These Neighborhood Conversation meetings are the perfect opportunity to show our partnership with the Paducah Police Department and other departments as we work as a team alongside the residents to keep Paducah safe and attractive. We are all working together to improve Paducah’s quality of life,” added Tinsman.
