Celebrate the Power of Parks and Recreation
Every year, the National Recreation & Park Association promotes and celebrates Parks and Recreation Month in July and selects a theme. This year’s theme is “The Power of Parks and Recreation,” which will be celebrated by parks and recreation departments throughout the country.
Paducah Parks & Recreation is proud to offer year-round recreation programs and a diverse park system that can be enjoyed by residents of Paducah and the surrounding region through all 12 months of the year. This July, we want to recognize the power of connection, play, community, nature, belonging, and well-being here in Paducah.
Two large community events will bookend the month of July. On July 4, we will host the City of Paducah, KY Independence Day Celebration in downtown Paducah and along the riverfront. This year, we celebrate 250 years of the United States of America with fireworks, live music, food, and free Ferris wheel rides!
At the end of the month, we will recognize the 100th anniversary of Bob Noble Park through our Noble Park 100 events, July 30–August 2, featuring a farmers’ market, movie in the park, concerts, and more. These two events will allow our community to gather, celebrate, and create memories that will enhance the well-being of Paducah.
Throughout the month, we will offer additional programs that foster belonging and connection among participants, such as Camp Noble Summer Camp. There will be opportunities for people to play at the Noble Park Pool or one of our seven playgrounds. Finally, there are opportunities to be inspired by nature and enjoy its benefits by taking a walk on the Greenway Trail or sitting under the shade of a tree.
I encourage everyone in our community to get outside this July, visit a park, attend one of our events, and make a memory for yourself or with someone you care about. Experience the Power of Parks and Recreation!
