Assistant Chief William Hodges leads the Support Services Division of the Paducah Police Department. The Support Services Division performs both proactive and reactive duties that serve to deter, prevent, reduce, and solve criminal activity within the City of Paducah. It is comprised of the Records and Evidence Unit, the General Investigations Unit, and the Drug Unit.
Assistant Chief Hodges began his law enforcement career with the Paducah Police Department in 2009. He was appointed to Captain in January 2022 and Assistant Chief in 2025. Before he was appointed Assistant Chief, he served in and supervised all divisions of the department, holding positions that included Patrolman, Detective, Sergeant, and Captain. He has also served as a member of the Digital Forensics Unit, the Drone Unit, and as a Crisis Negotiator for the department.
Assistant Chief Hodges attended Murray State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications Systems Management. He is a graduate of the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Academy of Police Supervision’s Class 77, as well as a graduate of the 151st class of the Administrators Officers Course and Police Executive Leadership Graduate Program through the University of Louisville. He has also attended and received multiple certifications from the National Computer Forensics Institute. He was named the Paducah Police Department’s Employee of the Year for 2017.
Assistant Chief Hodges stays active in the community through involvement with various youth sports programs. He was a member of Leadership Paducah Class #36 and serves as the law enforcement liaison with West Kentucky Crime Stoppers. He is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a former vice president of the Paducah Police Collective Bargaining Unit. In his free time, Assistant Chief Hodges enjoys traveling with his family and playing golf.
